First cartoon to get nominated for an Academy Award for Short Subjects, Cartoons. First appearances of Tom, Jerry and Mammy Two Shoes. Jerry is unnamed in this short, but is officially known as Jinx. These channels only air the pan-and-scan prints of the CinemaScope shorts, which are considered unwatchable to most audiences (namely adults) due to most of the important fragments are cropped out. Quimby retired in 1955 and from 1956 to 1958, Hanna and Barbera produced the shorts until MGM closed the cartoon studio in 1957, and the last cartoon was released in 1958.
